ARINC is Awarded a Second IT Support Contract
at Washington Dulles International
May 6, 2010
Annapolis, Maryland—As the result of a competitive solicitation, ARINC Incorporated has been awarded a managed services contract to provide on-site maintenance and technical support for passenger processing systems, flight information display systems (FIDS), and other specialized electronic systems at Washington Dulles International Airport. More than 1000 pieces of equipment are involved.
ARINC’s customer is the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), the operator of Dulles International and Ronald Reagan National airports.
The new contract significantly expands ARINC’s IT service role at Dulles. The company’s IT support subsidiary, ARINC Managed Services, already provides technical support for the Parking Revenue and Control System at the Dulles self-service and employee parking lots and garages.
Under the new contract, effective July 1, 2010, ARINC will provide 2 technicians, 2 engineers, and a site supervisor for on-site and on-call coverage 7 days a week. ARINC personnel will perform first-level maintenance on 345 workstations, 361 printers, and 315 flight information displays, work previously performed by a competitor.
ARINC intends to keep the airport systems fully operational at all times through pro-active preventive maintenance, trend analysis, failure analysis, and local repairs.
“ARINC is very pleased to receive this additional work from this important customer,” stated Michael Picco, ARINC Airport Systems Vice President. “We look forward to serving Dulles International in a newly expanded role, and making a greater contribution to an enjoyable travel experience for its millions of customers.”
ARINC’s new contract includes one base year plus two option years. On-site support will be provided from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week, and on-call at all other times. In addition to the passenger systems and display systems, ARINC will support seven other IT systems ranging from passport control and ticket-counter signage to the “Welcome to Virginia” system.
Dulles International Airport, located 25 miles from downtown Washington, D.C., is served by more than 30 domestic and international carriers providing non-stop service to 82 domestic and 47 international destinations. The airport handles more than 23 million passengers annually, with over 900 flight operations a day.
ARINC Incorporated, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group, provides communications, engineering and integration solutions for commercial, defense and government customers worldwide.
